There are rumblings of a returning beer from down in our barrel-aged sour room, The Mangrove. Batch #2 of Red Legacy, our Flanders-Style sour red ale, is soon ready to emerge! Aged in oak barrels for nearly a year on a mixed culture of yeast and bacteria. Acidic yet malty and complex with notes of black cherry, red wine, bourbon, oak and chocolate.
Bottle conditioned, corked and caged per Belgium tradition. 750 ml bottles of Red Legacy will be available for public sale on August 4th, but you can head to the taproom now to try it on draft for a limited time! $19.99/3 bottle limit.

Litany Against Fear: Smoked Sour Ale Collaboration with Little Fish Brewing Company ($12.99/6 bottle limit)
Fear is the mind-killer. Face your fear and let it pass through you so only beer will remain. This Lichtenhainer is a historic style from Germany brewed in collaboration with our friends at Little Fish following notes from a 19th century recipe. We used Ohio wheat and beechwood smoked barley from Germany. The beer was fermented with the water of life in oak barrels using a blend of each brewery's native mixed cultures and lactobacillus. Months later the changed waters have bright notes of pear, white grape, and apple with a mild sweet and savory smoke character and pleasing tartness.
Swimming in the Mangrove: Sour Ale Aged in Red Wine Puncheons ($14.99/6 bottle limit)
An oak barrel is a beautiful sight. It captures the essence of the natural ingredients used in brewing and alludes to our past. Our California red wine puncheons dwarf the standard barrels populating The Mangrove at Wolf's Ridge and are especially beautiful to behold. These puncheons only age our most unique and limited projects. After a year of maturation we find clean stone fruit acidity on the nose that compliments flavors of oak, cherry, caramel and tart apricot A wonderfully complex beer from a remarkable barrel.
Terre du Sauvage Green: Barrel-aged Farmhouse Sour, Dry-hopped with Whole Cone Ekuanot ($12.99/3 bottle limit)
Batch # 3 is ready! Brewed with barley, wheat and rye, then fermented with a blend of Saison Yeast, Brett and Lactobacillus. Whole cone Ekuanot hops impart exceptionally juicy orchard fruit notes of pear, apple and peach.
