Taproom Bottle Release 1/27

Keep your Saturday open on January 27th! We have new beers making their first appearance in 22 oz bottles: Barleywine and BA Barleywine! Along for the ride are some retuning fan-favorite infusions, check out the updated bottle list below.

***We will not be hosting any early bird pre-sale party for this release. Doors will open at 10 am to the general public and the bottle sale will begin at 11 am first come, first serve (numbered tickets will be handed out upon entry to the Taproom, dictating your place in the line for the bottle sale). Our kitchen and bar will be open right at 10 am!***

Bottle List:

-Nippert- (allotment of 4 per person) $12.99

English Barleywine, 10%

We brew our English Barleywine to be layered with deep flavors. The finest imported barley is used and the wort is caramelized in the kettle before a grueling 4 hour boil. Bold and full bodied with flavors of toffee, caramel, toasted biscuits, fig, and raisin. A "nippert" is a small portion - which is all you need of a big beer like this!

-Lil' Nippert- (allotment of 3 per person) $18

Barrel Aged Barleywine, 11%

Barrel: Watershed Bourbon

After a year of aging in barrels Nippert emerges bigger and more complex than before. Wonderful notes of oak and honey are imparted by the barrel, layering atop our English Barleywine's caramel, toffee, and biscuity profile. A "lil' nippert" is all you need -but a full glass if what you'll want!

-Lil' Nibbert- (allotment of 2 per person) $20

Barrel Aged Barleywine, 11%

Barrel: Watershed Bourbon

We've taken our Barrel Aged Barleywine Lil' Nippert and added the finest English Earl Grey tea along with gourmet Haitian cacao nibs. Lovely aromas of bourbon and honey interplay with subtle chocolate and bright citrusy Bergamot. The flavor is even more complex with black tea and dark chocolate truffle notes alongside rich toffee, caramel, raisin, and biscuit.

-Dire Wolf One Line- (allotment of 6 per person) $12.99

One Line Coffee infused imperial stout, 10.4%

-All the Breakfast- (allotment of 6 per person) $14.99

Imperial breakfast cream ale (ABV TBD). Infused with orange peel, maple syrup, cacao nibs, toasted coconut, cinnamon and vanilla bean.

Platform Collaboration Beer Tapping Party!

We will have a few special beers on draft in our taproom on Thursday, January 18th! Swing by to try our 2 collaboration beers with Platform, as well as a couple of great guest drafts they're bringing along:

-DEFCON Red, 11.4%-
A collaboration with Platform, brewed at WRB. DEFCON Red is a Barleywine brewed with Ohio grown barley and rye that was malted in Cleveland. We brewed our version of this Barleywine collab with molasses.

-Panic Switch, 11%-
A collaboration with Platform, brewed at their Cleveland location. Panic Switch is a Barleywine brewed with Ohio grown barley and rye that was malted in Cleveland.

Additional guest drafts from Platform:

-Cherry Donut Pie, Gose-
4.20% ABV, 4 IBU
Brewed in collaboration with Brewnuts in Cleveland. This Gose skirts the balance between sweetness and tart. Flavors of sweet cherry and pie crust with a mild salinity compliment a bright tartness, luscious cherry filling and biscuity, doughy nose.

-Office Hours, Session IPA-
5.20% ABV, 30 IBU
Easy drinking Session IPA with notes of tropical fruit and citrus that give way to a light hop bitterness. Flavors explode with a juicy hop bomb powered by Citra, Amarillo, Mandarina Bavaria, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops.

SOLD OUT Sensory Analysis Class 12/30

Our head of quality control is now making our employee education classes at WRB open to the public!  All beer lovers and aficionados looking to expand their knowledge will receive first hand tutelage on smelling, tasting and experiencing beer with acceptable and unacceptable qualities.

This class presents an examination of what happens when an unwanted off-flavor creeps in to the beer we love.  Ever tried a beer that tasted buttery?  How about papery or vinegary? These flavors and many more (before, during, and after the brew process), can overtake beer in an unsavory way.  Students will be introduced to three specific off-flavors in this class:  Acetic Acid, Metallic and Lightstruck.  Along with an in-depth scientific look at how both flavors infect beer, WRB will also provide samples of purposefully spiked beer to train students on identifying their taste and smell.

Questions and discussion will be encouraged, and all guests will get a complimentary pint of beer at the end of class! We will have 25 spots open for this class-please click here to purchase tickets!

Our tap room kitchen will be preparing a special food menu for the day, opening for public service at 11:00 am.

Public bottle sale: The doors to the other side (accessed through the same N. 4th street entrance as the restaurant) will open at 10:00 AM for drafts, with the bottle sale beginning at 11:00 AM. As always, the sale will be first come, first serve. The earlier you arrive, the sooner you can anticipate your ability to purchase bottles. If you arrive at 11:00 AM or later, please expect the likelihood that your access to bottles won’t begin until around 1:00 pm or later (as there are guests who begin lining up outside earlier in the morning). We try our hardest to sell bottles as quickly and efficiently as possible, but understand that these large releases with barrel aged specialty beer usually have people lining up 1-2 hours before doors open!

Upon entering the other side, you will receive a numbered ticket with a time stamp on it, which is when you can anticipate your ability to buy bottles. We will sell bottles to groups of 20 guests every 20 minutes. So, tickets 1-20 at 11:00 am, 21-41 at 11:20, 42-62 at 11:40 etc...Please find a staff member if you have any questions regarding this during the party. Announcements will be made when each time stamp/group of 20 may purchase bottles. While you wait for you group’s turn, feel free to check out the tap room, eat some grub, wander around the brewery and sample from our largest draft list to date!

Wild Heritage Series Bottle Release #3

Wild Heritage Series Bottle Release #3

We told you it was going to be a summer for sours, Columbus, and we're keeping that promise with 2 new entries into our Wild Heritage Series: Terre du Sauvage Green and Terre du Sauvage Red!

Terre du Sauvage Green, Batch #1:

A new take on our traditional farmhouse saison. The grain bill was modeled after L'Abondance but fermented with brett and saison yeast and aged in second-use bourbon barrels. Terre du Sauvage Green was blended with Terre du Sauvage Gold barrels for acidity, and dry hopped with Ekuanot. This beer is the balanced, bright and refreshing-we'd like to think it's a gateway brew for people who think they don't enjoy wild, "sour" beers!

Terre du Sauvage Red, Batch #1:

This version of our farmhouse saison was brewed with 40% rye. We fermented it with brett, lacto, and hefe yeast, and then aged it in bourbon barrels for 16 months.

Both of these beers, along with a special Dire Wolf variant, will be available in 22 oz bombers out of our tap room during this all-day release party. Doors open at 10:00 am for brews and food, and the sale starts at 11:00 am (first come, first serve as always). Expect a unique draft list with new brews and special casks! Think you don't like sours?? Stop by during the party to try some our our traditional, wild beers on draft and find out!

Stay tuned for more details, sour heads!
